Knight Frank Town Planning Canberra was pleased to support PIA National Planning Congress 2026 in Canberra and to sponsor the Strategic Planning Project category at the National Awards for Planning Excellence. The program was strong throughout and the week was a valuable opportunity to engage with peers on the practical business of delivery. We were glad to be involved and we thank PIA for a Congress run to a high standard.
Our Canberra practice is led by Josh O’Connor and Halimah Jobling. We are a local operation working day to day within the ACT’s leasehold system and statutory framework, supported by the reach of the wider Knight Frank network. That combination matters in Canberra, where approvals pathways can be compressed, multi-agency in character, and highly sensitive to sequence.
We work with sophisticated counterparties on complex projects, including leading developers, institutional landholders and experienced project teams. Much of our work sits in and around city and town centres and the established urban area, where delivery is shaped by interface conditions, infrastructure capacity, servicing constraints, design governance and public realm expectations. We also support major community and education projects and precinct scale exercises where planning strategy, staging and land administration are central to the outcome.
Our scope spans development applications, lease variations, strategic and precinct planning, statutory interpretation, and approvals strategy. In the ACT context, that often means working across the boundaries of land tenure, planning controls and implementation mechanisms. It is rarely enough for a project to be capable in principle. It must also be capable in process, with an approvals pathway that aligns with agency requirements, documentation expectations and realistic delivery sequencing.
Knight Frank, with a proven track record spanning more than 125 years, draws on the resources, knowledge and insight of more than 20,000 professionals across over 600 offices worldwide. Across Australia and New Zealand, Knight Frank provides commercial and residential transactional and advisory services, underpinned by market intelligence and deep industry capability. For the Canberra planning practice, that broader platform is valuable in the moments where planning, risk and value intersect and where clients need advice that is commercial as well as statutory.
If you would like to continue conversations begun at Congress, we would be pleased to stay in touch.
